Discernment Is Queen

With all the fuss about Mercury Retrograde, and Saturn going into Capricorn, let’s not forget Venus, the planet of love, money, and creativity goes into Capricorn the night of December 24th here on the West Coast of the US.  Astrologer Kathy Biehl gave an excellent description of what Venus in Capricorn is all about.  In her podcast, Astro-Insight, she compares Venus in Capricorn to Eartha Kitt singing “Santa Baby” requesting items such as checks, a yacht, and a deed to a platinum mine.  What’s wrong with a girl asking for what she really wants?  Venus in Capricorn wants her hard work to have a big payoff.  May we all be inspired to go mint while she’s there until January 17th.

Aries, Venus is entering Capricorn in your 10th House of career.  This will up the ante with all things like creativity in your work, cash flow, and the passion you feel when you follow your calling.  Right as Venus enters the sign (I imagine her dressed as the ultimate snow bunny), she bumps into Saturn and the Sun who have already been on Capricorn’s mountain of hard work for the past few days.  Venus likes a good creative pursuit and the abundance of money.  She reminds the Sun and Saturn that there is a game to be played when going after one’s career goals.  Sometimes you have to be a bit coy, and leave an air of mystery to get what you want.  This may lead to an end of a career, or a big change in the course of one come January 9th when Venus meets up with Pluto.  You’ll feel the energy a few days before and a few days after.  When it comes to Pluto the best thing is to surrender to the transformation you’re about to go under.  Remember, the phoenix always rises from the ashes.  Also around the same time Venus meets up with Pluto, she’ll also be having captivating conversation with Jupiter and Mars.  This energy can go either way.  It may make the transformation feel big and violent, you may just want to stay home and watch action movies to ride out the energy, or you feel generous with yourself when it comes to strategizing and planning the next steps of what to do next.  You’re the general of your life, plan your attack and lead the charge.  When the moon joins up with Pluto and Venus on the 16th, for the New Moon, it’s time to start something concerning your work in the world.  Listen to your feelings, be clear about what nourishes you, and then take the steps to move closer to the work you were meant to do.

Taurus, Venus is entering Capricorn in your 9th House of travel, education, and ideas.  With Saturn and the Sun already in this House and Sign you’ve been given tasks to complete over the next month, and the next three years concerning your ideas and what you do with them.  Enter Venus who is ready for some fiery female truth and it’s game on.  This may seem a little jolting for your steady earth sign ways.  This is okay.  Venus may be fiery when it comes to 9th House matters, but she knows how to slowly turn up the heat when it comes to earth signs.  She enters the sign in a tight yet fuzzy winter sweater sipping on some homemade eggnog.  She reminds Saturn of the linguistic reveling that can be done when it comes to ideas, that it’s not all serious talk.  When it comes to deep conversation about philosophy Venus is ready to get cozy by the fire, under the mistletoe, on the bear rug.  I’m getting a little hot just thinking about it!  On January 9th Venus will have a lively conversation with Mercury about the importance of good ideas.  This is a wonderful time to share your truth.  The next day on January 10th Venus is going to get dreamy with Neptune.  Make a wish on the brightest star you see that night, and keep this one a secret, wait for clues to take you on a quest to discover where your dream is hiding.  New philosophies can be truly life changing, especially in the realm of career, on January 9th when Venus gets close with Pluto.  This is a time to go deep.  Taurus you like the sensual side of things and Venus and Pluto just want to get naked with each other to discover new things and create something new.  When you emerge from the sex den use that energy to fuel the new ideas you have for your career.  A little R+R is usually the best thing for then charging ahead into the New Year.

Gemini, Venus is entering Capricorn in your 8th House of sex, death, and taxes on December 24th.  How are you planning to stay warm during this cold Capricorn season?  Get creative Gemini, the kinkier, the better.  Saturn has given you your assignment on 8th House matters for the next three years.  During the Winter Solstice the Sun shed some light on what needed to be done to achieve this task.  Now with Venus coming to be conjunct Saturn and the Sun, it’s time to get creative in taking up this task.  It’s also time to indulge in the things Venus specializes in, love, beauty, and pleasure.  Use crystals to your benefit Gemini, and don’t be afraid to push the limit.  If things don’t work out as planned it will make a good story for many winters to come.  On January 9th Venus has a good talk with Mercury, the planet that rules your sign.  Get really honest about what brings you pleasure.  Now is a good time to share your honesty out in the open.  The next day Venus has a good conversation with Neptune, the planet of dreams and spirituality.  Now that you’ve been honest, what spiritual nourishment do you need to exist?  As astrologer Anne Ortelee likes to ask, “What’s the new dream?” now that you’ve spoken your truth?  Bringing secrets into the light will prepare you for when Venus meets up with Pluto also on January 9th.  For new structures to come into being, old structures must die.  Commit to building structures that honor your Venus.  This means structures focused on love, creativity, and whatever makes you feel wealthy (this can involve money, and other things as well).  Sometimes you shy away from structures Gemini, but with Venus on your side, you know that structures that produce lasting pleasure are worth changing for.

Cancer, Venus is now entering your 7th House of marriage and other VIP relationships.  Remember when I said this would be a big three years putting structure to your relationships with Saturn in your 7th House?  Remember at the end of “Santa Baby” when Eartha Kitt asks for a ring?  Well Capricorn and Saturn rule crystalline structures, and Venus is the planet of love, so I’m just saying, there may be a small box with something sparkly in it waiting under the tree for you.  Go with your gut Cancer, your gut never fails you.  Remember, is this a commitment you want to make for the next 3 years, 30 years, or even 60 years of your life?  Yes, it’s hard to look that far into the future, so just go with your gut.  Ok, what if there isn’t a ring under the tree?  There’s always New Year’s Eve too!  On January 10th Venus has a really good conversation with Neptune who is hanging out in your 9th House of concepts and ideas.  Neptune has been very dreamy in this placement for you, but with Venus in the earthy sign of Capricorn this is a great day for dreams to come true, or for setting the intention for wanting the dream to become reality.  Preparing for your dreams on the 10th will help you also get ready for January 9th when Venus meets up with Pluto.  This may mean a transformation in a relationship (didn’t get the ring the week of the 24th or 31st?  See about now).  Also, as you become a new person, the relationships in your life will change.  Remember your intention and WHY you’re asking the universe for it.  You’re radiating a different type of frequency now just by wanting what you want.  Some will not want what you’re putting down, and others won’t be able to get enough of it.

Leo, Venus is entering your 6th House of daily routine and health on December 24th.  This comes as a big relief since Saturn has entered this house as well with lots of ideas about how you should structure your everyday life.  The realizations Saturn was delivering were only made brighter by the Sun coming into Capricorn on the Winter Solstice.  Venus is coming in, trimmed in faux mink, reminding Saturn to be creative and have fun with the task it’s delivering to you to work on for the next three years.  If it’s something that’s going to become apart of your everyday, it needs to bring you pleasure.  Saturn sometimes forgets this, and Venus has arrived to remind him.  Venus will have an exciting conversation with Neptune on the January 10th.  The chat may leave you feeling a little heady and disoriented, but if you surrender to the moment (if you drink this might actually be a time when a nice glass of red wine, or a hot toddy is advised to set the mood), it will be full of information about how you will make money from your creativity, and new spiritual rituals you want to bring into your life.  Listen to your dreams this night, they have stories to tell you.  Do your best to harness this energy (might I suggest crystals?) and use it to its full advantage when Venus meets up with Pluto on the 9th.  Have the courage and the strength to change the habit, or add the new ritual to your routine.  It may seem scary, especially if it’s new and you don’t have others in your life who live this way so you can follow their lead.  That’s the thing about you Leo, you are the leader of the pack, others follow you.  Take comfort in things that appease your feminine while you embark on this new quest.  Bubble baths, walks on the beach, soft materials will ease the dramatic change you’re making for the better.

Virgo, Venus is joining the Sun and Saturn in your 5th House of creativity, fun, love affairs, and children.  With Capricorn in your 5th House Virgo, remember to take fun very seriously, it’s your job to show others how important it is in daily life.  When Venus goes into Capricorn on December 24th it will be conjunct Saturn and the Sun.  Saturn has brought a task that you will be working on for the next three years to your 5th House.  When the Sun met up with Saturn on the Winter Solstice we became clear about the nature of this task.  With Venus joining the party, she’s coming in with a slinky silver sequins number with fringe, reminding us that every good project needs a little sequin fringe.  Saturn sometimes forgets this and Venus is here to flirt a little, and remind him that things get done quicker when there’s fun to be had.  Every holiday party is a little more fun with mistletoe in the doorway.  In true Venus in Capricorn fashion, whistling while you work will be good for your career in the long run.  When Venus meets up with Pluto on January 9th it will be all about transformation when it comes to feminine energy.  It’s going to be big, you won’t be able to miss it.  Think of what area of your life you want to completely change the energy when it comes to creativity, love affairs, and children.  Set your intention and see what unfolds.  It may come quietly, like fresh falling snow, but before you know it you’ll look around and be in a completely different place.

Libra, Venus, your ruling planet, enters Capricorn in your 4th House of foundation, home, and family.  She’s ready for a New Year’s house party and she’s letting all the other planets currently in Capricorn know.  As soon as she enters she meets up with Saturn and has a good conversation with him about father figures and other authorities in your life.  Who is it that you truly want to honor?  Who/what is it that you need to leave and let go of come the Full Moon in Cancer on January 1st.  Venus is also talking to the Sun who has received word from Saturn about what your task will be.  She reminds the Sun, who may be feeling a little stressed out by Saturn, that life is more fun when it’s seen through rose colored glasses, when there’s harmony, and you have the attitude that you’re always on your way to a garden party.  Keep this Venus energy in mind when she rubs up against Pluto on January 9th.  At this time (and the days leading up to and after) something at your core may feel like it’s simultaneously on fire while plunging into the depths of a body of water.  Fear not Libra, Venus is there to show you where the creativity, love, and abundance is in this situation.  There’s a good chance this is going to feel like a death.  With the waning Moon furiously let go of anything you want out of your life.  Begin the new project and way of being on the new Moon on January 16th.  Dare I say, see this as the true New Year’s Day?

Scorpio, things are getting flirty for you as Venus is entering your 3rd House of communication.  With Saturn and the Sun recently entering this house as well you’ve been given the message about the work you need to do over the next three years (Saturn) and you’ve taken this message in and are making choices about how to manifest it in your life (Sun).  The task is most likely surrounding some type of communication about getting the message out.  With Venus meeting up with Saturn and the Sun, she serves as a reminder to keep the communication creative and that things don’t grow in stark environments.  Yes, it’s possible, but the more lush and abundant a space is, the more likely it will continue to grow, and Venus can help coax this growth.  An example of this is the kinder you are, the more kindness you receive.  It’s important when communicating, to also communicate with yourself and be very conscious of your own needs, and coming up with ways to see that those needs are met.  You’ll be glad that you checked in with your needs when Venus meets up with Pluto on January 9th.  There may be a communication breakdown, or a new way of communicating with someone you love.  This is a great time to say goodbye to things and people that aren’t working for you.  When the new Moon comes on January 16th, it’s time to begin new lines of communication and new projects that need to be released into the world.

Sagittarius, for the past month or so Venus has been traveling through your sign.  Now, she has landed on the mountain in Capricorn in your 2nd House of money, values, and self-worth.  Venus is ready to make some money!  When Saturn entered your second house earlier this month it assigned you a task concerning value.  On the Winter Solstice the Sun entered your 2nd House as well, making this assigned task conscious.  Now Venus is meeting up with both Saturn and the Sun at the beginning of her journey through Capricorn.  Sag, with the sign of Capricorn in your 2nd House you know how to work for your money, you also at times feel that you have to work very hard for your self-worth. Use the energy of Venus during the next few weeks to feel the energy of abundance that waits for you.  Know that there’s already a sense of abundance within you.  With this knowledge you’ll come into a great time of transformation on January 9th when Venus meets up with Pluto.  There may be a crippling sense of self-doubt at this time.  Sag, self-care is of the utmost importance at this time.  When you build new patterns, and the old patterns crumble, it can be incredibly painful as you let the baggage you’ve held onto for so long leaves you.  New positive patterns result in this breaking open.  Let Venus be the witness to the power struggle within you.  When a sprout bursts from it’s seed it appears to be one of nature’s marvels to us, but it’s a very violent experience for the sprout.  This is the energy of creation, Venus’s favorite thing.  Let the combination of Pluto and Venus vault you into a new way of being.  An excellent time to start this journey is during the New Moon, on January 16th.

Capricorn, it’s been quite the month for you.  It’s your birthday month, AND you’re having your Saturn Return, a time to check in on the direction of your life, and change course if necessary.   Cap, you love to work.  You’re ready and eager for whatever task Saturn returning to your sign throws your way.  Venus is coming through to bless your new project with creativity, love, and abundance.  Also, there’s still time to find yourself under the mistletoe with a certain someone and get asked out for New Year’s Eve.  Who’s that person who remembers your birthday even with all the holiday hubbub?  You may have gotten to a point where you’re not bothered when people forget, but it’s nice when someone remembers.  They might make a good Christmas, New Year’s, birthday date for many years.  Now’s a great time for locking things in for longevity, with Saturn being Father Time, and Venus providing the abundance you deserve from all your hard work.  There will be a great transformation around something that has to do with beauty and power on January 9th when Venus meets Pluto.  As this is a big time for you Capricorn, the event will most likely happen in your waking world.  I know you like to keep your head down and keep working, even when things get crazy, but don’t be afraid to take a moment and take in the situation in front of you.  Being present in the moment will help you process.  Finally, a note on the projects you’re working on in accordance with your Saturn Return.  Work quietly in the background as others sleep off their eggnog hangovers.  Showoff what you’re working on come the New Moon in Cap on January 16th.  With six planets in your sign at that time Capricorn, all you can do is shine.

Aquarius, Venus has headed into you 12th House of hidden things, secrets, and institutions.  You were recently given a super-secret task for the next three years by Saturn when he entered your 12th House.  Venus has entered this hazy landscape and bumped into Saturn and the Sun.  She brings a sense of discernment and feminine energy to the task at hand.  Oftentimes Aquarius you are very humanitarian minded, you want to help others, but, at times small talk and one-on-one relationships are a little tougher.  Let Venus and the Sun plump up your ability to make the connections you’ll need, and simply enjoy when getting your task done.  Venus lets you get very clear about what you like, and what you don’t like.  This will be very helpful on January 9th when Venus gets close to Pluto.  Think of this as a metaphorical death to better move onto the cool things waiting for you in the new year.  Have a spiritual ritual around what you’re letting go.  The bigger, the better.  It can happen in private, but what matters is that it’s significant for you.  When the moon meets up with Venus, Pluto, and the Sun on January 16th for the new Moon this is a good time to launch secret projects.  The more you work on it now, the more prepared it will be when you launch it into existence in the Fall.

Pisces, Venus is travelling through Capricorn in your 11th House of groups and humanitarian work.  Now’s a great time to look into all the feminine things you want to do in 2018.  New Year’s resolutions?  Nah, look at them as the frolicking you plan to do because it suits your fancy.  Pisces your discernment is on point in January.  Take full advantage of it!  Sometimes you feel a little indecisive, with Venus shimmying through the sign of structure she knows what she wants and how to go about getting it.  When she enters Capricorn she bumps into Saturn and the Sun.  Saturn is hard at work on the project he’s assigned your 11th House for the next three years.  You may feel a little overwhelmed by the preciseness of it all Pisces.  Venus soothes the hard-edged Saturn.  She knows that having a bouquet of flowers on your desk, lots of candles, and maybe even a goldfish makes you whistle while you work, and the way you feel in the present moment is what it’s all about.  On January 9th Venus meets up with Pluto.  This may signify that it’s time to leave a certain group, most likely a group that once upon a time really served you, but if you’re to become a different person you may need to surround yourself with different people.  It doesn’t mean completely cut yourself off from them, you may still have to be around them often, but you no longer have to have your identity wrapped up in them.  You can dream and become someone else, with so many planets in Capricorn, it’s very possible to bring dreams into the reality.
